In November, the recycling volume of lithium battery scrap in China continued to rise. Overall industry production was driven by robust downstream demand. Last week, the market witnessed several recycling-related events.
[50,000 mt Battery Recycling Project Approved] Recently, the People's Government of Chenzhou City publicly announced the acceptance of the "50,000 mt/year Waste Lithium-ion Power Battery Resource Recycling Project" by Chenzhou Lanjing New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. This project, located in the Zixing Economic Development Zone, Ziwu Industrial Park, plans to invest 591.6026 million yuan (including 8.96 million yuan for environmental protection) to construct a "50,000 mt/year Waste Lithium-ion Power Battery Resource Recycling Project." The project will set up production lines for the disassembly and recycling of waste lithium-ion power batteries and the wet recycling of anode and cathode powder materials. The project aims to process 50,000 mt of waste lithium-ion power batteries annually, including 15,000 mt for cascade utilization and 35,000 mt for recycling and disassembly.
[First Public Announcement of Environmental Impact Assessment for Shandong Huajin's 1,500 mt/year Waste Lithium Battery Project] Recently, the People's Government of Feicheng City, Shandong Province, made the first public announcement of the environmental impact assessment for Shandong Huajin Battery Materials Technology Co., Ltd.'s waste lithium battery fine disassembly and recycling project. This project, located in the Feicheng Chemical Industry Park, Shiheng Town, Tai'an City, Shandong Province, is expected to process 1,500 mt of waste lithium batteries annually upon completion.
[Lopal Meiduo's 25,000 mt Lithium Battery Recycling Project at Full Capacity] On the morning of November 28, the full-capacity ceremony for Shandong Meiduo's 25,000 mt lithium battery recycling project was grandly held in Juancheng, Shandong. Shandong Meiduo Technology Co., Ltd., an emerging domestic lithium battery recycling company, was established in September 2022, with a first-phase investment of 400 million yuan, and can process 25,000 mt of waste batteries annually.
[50,000 mt Lithium Battery Recycling Project Launched in Shaoguan, Guangdong] Recently, the Shaoguan Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment officially announced the acceptance of the environmental impact report for Guangdong Natural Materials Technology Development Co., Ltd.'s comprehensive recycling and utilization project for 50,000 mt/year of waste lithium batteries and non-ferrous metal-containing scrap. It is understood that Guangdong Natural Materials Technology Development Co., Ltd. plans to invest 120 million yuan, with environmental protection investment reaching 15 million yuan, accounting for 12.5% of the total investment. The project will process 40,000 mt of waste lithium batteries annually, including 19,000 mt of waste LFP batteries and 1,000 mt of waste LFP battery pole pieces, 19,000 mt of waste ternary lithium batteries, and 1,000 mt of waste ternary lithium battery pole pieces. Among them, 30,000 mt of waste lithium batteries will undergo cascade utilization.
[10,000 mt-Scale Lithium Battery Recycling Project Launched in Shenyang] Recently, the Shenyang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment officially announced the environmental review of Shenyang Xinneng Renewable Resources Co., Ltd.'s lithium battery disassembly project, marking a critical stage in the environmental review process. The project covers an area of 6,500 m², with a total investment of 12 million yuan, including 591,000 yuan for environmental protection, accounting for 4.925% of the total investment. The project will build two production lines for the disassembly and processing of waste lithium batteries, including one for waste ternary lithium batteries and one for waste LFP batteries. These two production lines are expected to process 10,000 mt of waste lithium batteries annually.
